The Nyngan Social Dance group turned back time fifty years, hosting an old time family dance night to raise money for the Hermidale Public School.

Almost 40 people filled the Hermidale Hall on April 26 waltzing to the pride of erin, and putting their left leg in for the hokey pokey.
The event reminisced times gone by when members would travel to attend dances or balls in areas such as Hermidale, Tottenham, Girilambone and Coolabah.

Event organiser Patricia Cook said it was a "fantastic" night and were able to donate $400 to the local school.
"We had a great night and everyone said they enjoyed their night," she said.
"Children joined in the chicken dance, hokey pokey, macareena and nut bush."
The Social Dance Group is run by Patricia and Clyde Cook who teach a variety of old time dances including the pride of erin and Canadian three step at the Nyngan RSL on a Monday evening. Members donate $5 each week for the class, which is pooled together and donated to clubs and charities in town.
