Despite the Brumbies struggling for numbers all season, the term they arrived with put up a great performance against the locals who are just starting to show their teamwork.
With Peter Broome ,Mick Wellsbud, Christo Scholtz, all out with injuries and Eliki Ladrau suspended, the forward pack gave away a lot of weight and experience.
The opening salvo, saw Bre take it right to the Bulls. Their big four lead by Rory Finlayson, tested the defensive skills of the Bulls but fitness began to show and the boys used their expansive game to put Mitch Butler away on the right wing and cross wide.
Our soccer convert Jayden Bonello, who has gone up a level with the boot this season converted to see the Bulls on the scoreboard.
Although the Brumbies forwards were tiring, they rallied to push forward and workhorse Rory crashed over the try converted to lock scores up at 7 all.
That was where the game suddenly opened up, coinciding with a broken arm to a Bre front rower, and Netava really putting his mark on the game drawing three players before linking up with Simon Bell.
Beneficiaries, in particular Jake Perko-bennett and Jimmy Elias who both finished with doubles, Declan Hoare and Bell himself all crossing the line.
At half time the score was out to 33-7, and with fresh legs on the bench in last seasons skipper Jack Kennedy returning after nuptials, flying Jone Yacadrau keen to link up with long time mate Netava and the talented and slimmer Matty Sheather, all itching to get on the field it was an uphill battle for the Bre boys.
The game moved along with training moves finally being replicated on the paddock and tries flowed.
At the 60 minute mark the sprinklers burst into life at the southern end, referee Pom in total shock at seeing water falling, called a halt to proceedings.
A mad scurry behind the scenes to shut the system off was in vain as Pom made the call that would be the end of play for the night.
The Bulls 52-7 and threatening an avalanche of late scoring. Hands were shaken, beers shared and rugby was the winner.
With 8 tries, and 6 conversions it was an impressive display of open rugby.
Commanding performances by all players, but returning veteran Dom Kennedy relishing his move to the forwards was outstanding.
Gussy Currans as always put his shrinking frame under enormous stress but again came away with a powerhouse performance. Netava continues his rich vein of good form while Jake Perko-Bennett continues to develop into an outstanding finisher.
These three got the points this week. Next Saturday, we're at home against Gular.
