Voller, whose mistreatment in the Don Dale Youth Detention Centre sparked a 2016 royal commission, pleaded guilty in Southport District Court on Wednesday where he was handed a six-month suspended jail sentence.
He made the hoax from a hospital psychiatric ward where he had been placed for self-harm reasons after being arrested at the start of the Games for public nuisance during an indigenous protest.
