Off-duty police officer charged with drink driving

An off-duty Western Region police officer has been charged with drink driving.

Just after 11pm on Wednesday, a vehicle was being driven in a southerly direction along Frome Street, Moree, when it left the road and hit a tree.

The a 30-year-old female driver notified police. She underwent a breath analysis which returned a reading of 0.099.

Officers from New England police district attended and subjected the driver to a roadside breath test, which returned a positive reading.

The woman, who is an off-duty senior constable from Western Region, was arrested and taken to Moree Police Station.


A Field Court Attendance Notice was served for the offence of drive with middle range PCA.

She is due to appear at Moree Local Court on Monday, July 22.
