"At the end of the day, Forbes were the better side," Tigers captain-coach Justin Carney said of the disappointing result post-game.
"I thought we had control in the first half and in the second half we lost our way," he said.
Forbes put the first points on the scoreboard with a try by Tongia Fox three minutes into the game and a successful conversion put the Magpies six point ahead.
It began to look grim for the Tigers after a penalty provided Forbes an penalty kick right in front of the posts about 10 minutes in.
Steady ball control by the Tigers pushed Nyngan ahead with tries to Daryl Cubby and Clint Edwards giving them a second half lead 12-8.

While it seemed Nyngan were in control heading into halftime, errors cost them possession and allowed Forbes across the try-line.
Despite the Tigers defeating the defending premiers at Forbes in round one, of the competition, the Magpies returned the favour defeating Nyngan at Larkin Oval on Sunday, leaving the Tigers captain-coach scratching his head.
"It's hard to put the finger on it at the minute, I'm disappointed, but it's footy, it's how it goes," Carney said.
Despite the loss on home soil, Carney is hopeful things will turn around in the next few weeks.
"I don't know what it is, I'm new to the role and we've got a good club and there's good people around me, and we'll get there.
"It's one of those things, It only takes one good win to change everything, and we'll be looking for that in the next few weeks. That's all we can do."
While the captain-coach singled out Cameron Bourke for praise, he said there's still plenty of potential in the side.
"[Bourke] really rolled his sleeves up, there's a lot of good glimpses of stuff there from everyone ... it's just putting it all together, and at the minute it isn't going our way."
"It might be me one little thing that changes it, but we've just got to nut it out amongst ourselves and go from there."
