Undoubtedly, the Picnics are a calendar highlight for the region and there's something available for everyone.

Whether it's a passion for horse racing, a keen eye for fashion or just catching up with mates, this year promises to be one of the best yet.

The six-race program is promising not to be lame starting at 1.05pm and will feature the 1250 metre WIN Duck Creek Picnic Cup which will jump at 3.35pm.

Duck Creek committee vice president Bruce Cleaver said racegoers will see plenty of local horses and trainers take the track.

"It's looking really promising for a strong field of horses ... probably our best," he said.

"Local trainer Rodney Robb has indicated a fine showing of sure winners for the day."

Last year the Sharon Jeffries-trained Rehanaat took out the Duck Creek picnic feature.

Ridden by Scone-based Ashley Boyd, Rehanaat travelled in fourth position and then finished strongly down the centre of the track to win the Duck Creek Picnic Cup (1250m) by a length from Austin (Maddison Wright) and Flatley's Fortune (Wesley Boyd).

Mr Cleaver said this year they will also be hosting the Chris Elder Memorial Cup, in honour of the late clerk of the scales and horse owner.

"This event is in honour of Chris for all the work he's done, not just for Duck Creek, but for his involvement in the racing industry."

Mr Elder was the co-owner along with Greg Deacon and Dennis Thorpe of popular track favourite Lucienne.

The last race of the day will be at 4.15pm, however racegoers can stick around to enjoy live entertainment by Jon Stevens and Brad Cox.
