It was pleasing to note that $1500 had been raised at the "The Biggest Morning Tea" we held in Davidson Park in May.
A letter of appreciation was received from the Cancer Council, thanking us for hosting and being part of the "Biggest Morning Tea" fund raising. Over recent years $150 million has been raised for the Cancer Council.
Some interesting future Open Gardens and Festivals events were discussed, particularly for the warmer months of October and November.
Some of these included the Leura Gardens Festival in early October, a visit to the Riverina Iris Farm, Wagga Wagga, Highfield Gardens, Little Hartley and the Mayfield Gardens. Further information at our next meeting.
We were delighted to hear about a recent visit to Melbourne by Di Donald to attend the International Flower and Garden Show.
The main flower display was set up in the beautiful old 1880 Royal Exhibition building, with nearby Carlton Gardens amass with colourful collections of plants and landscape designs of every description.
Breathtaking displays of beauty and imagination, almost beyond words, were on show and there were even opportunities to participate in designing one's own potted plants and hanging baskets.
Thank you to Di for sharing this wonderful and inspiring experience by showing us her numerous photos on the slide screen, and speaking so glowingly of the world famous garden event.
Our next meeting is to be held at the home of Anna and Greg Corby, 40 Nymagee Street, on Monday, July 22 commencing at 12 noon.
New members are always welcome.
