Hargreaves was once again part of the men's 'Coxless' four, who have previously secured back-to-back World Champions in 2017 and 2018.
The new look men's four consisting of Hargreaves, Alexander Hill, Nick Purnall and Jack O'Brien needed a top eight finish to qualify their boat for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
After coming into the final as fastest qualifiers, a poor start in the final meant that the four where unable to make up ground and finished in sixth position.
Although disappointed with the result, Hargreaves was relieved that the boat qualified to compete at Tokyo 2020.
In other races, Australia's women's pair Jess Morrison and Annabelle McIntyre won silver after being pipped on the line by New Zealand, while compatriots Joshua Hicks and Sam Hardy took the bronze in the men's pair.
Hargreaves will return to Canberra to commence training for selection in the Australian Rowing Team for Tokyo 2020.
The team will be announced in February 2020 after selection trials.
We wish Hargreaves the best of the luck in preparation for Tokyo and we know that Nyngan will be cheering him on.
