Funded through Catchment Action NSW the Resilient Communities small grants program targets projects with a natural resource or cultural heritage focus that improve community resilience.

Central West Local Land Services Community Engagement Officer Brooke Kirkman said projects could involve training, events, workshops, field activities or educational resources.

"Central West Local Land Services aims to build resilient, self-reliant and prepared local communities," Ms Kirkman said.

"The small grants program enables community groups to build local community capacity to protect and preserve native plants and animals as well as soils, waterways and cultural heritage.

According to Ms Kirkman this year the program is encouraging partnerships and demonstration of innovation.

"We know our land managers are some of the most innovative in the world because they have to be given the harsh conditions they face," she said.

"We understand that sometimes small grants can make a big difference to community groups in helping them enhance their natural environment and cultural heritage and plan for the future."

Development of educational resources, involvement in festivals, tree-planting events or training to develop local skills are all potential project ideas.

Applications can be made through the Central West Local Land Services website and close Friday, February 14.
