Officers attached to the NSW Police rural crime division say the theft occurred between January 10 and 14.

"Unknown persons removed 19 nine-month-old black Angus steers from a property on the Beanbah Road, Coonamble," State Rural Crime Co-ordinator Detective Inspector Cameron Whiteside said.

"The offender/s cut wire fences to affect the theft.

"The stock was later discovered deceased in a neighbouring property."

Detective Inspector Whiteside said it appeared as though the animals were left at this location as a result on being unable to move them any further.

"The owner believes the animals died at this location as a result of the extreme heat and lack of water," he said.

Detective Inspector Whiteside has called on anyone with information to contact rural crime investigator at Dubbo Police Station on 6883 1599 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
