According to the Exchange for Change half yearly report to December 2019, a staggering 205,453 aluminium cans have been returned in the Bogan Local Government Area, and 109,185 glass recyclables have been exchanged for 10 cents a piece.

In the Bogan LGA recyclable items including aluminium, glass, PET, HDPE and other materials have totalled 372,801 returns the equivalent of 23 tonnes, compared to the Narromine shire total of just 63,045 returns.

A spokesperson for the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment (DPIE) said Nyngan has contributed to Return and Earn's success with the over the counter return point located at the Australian Hotel.

"The recent holiday period has been particularly impressive for Return and Earn," they said.

According to the DPIE spokesperson the largest day on record was December 30, which saw 8.42 million returned to reverse vending machines.

"Between December 21 and January 16, there were several days when more than seven million drink containers were returned each day, including three days with over eight million containers returned.

According to the DPIE spokesperson the daily average is now seven million drink containers being returned across the state.
