The readings stopped in October 2019 when the Post Office changed hands from the Davidsons.
In a report on the weather station for the February council meeting, mayor Ray Donald called for the BoM to be contacted "urgently" to keep the readings going.
"It would be a shame that after 100 years of records the weather station reports from Nyngan ceased," Cr Donald said.
"They are valuable records about local climate, and also helpful for agriculture records related to seasons and anyone considering to set up a business in Nyngan."
ALSO MAKING NEWS:
A BoM spokesperson confirmed the observations had been undertaken by a "co-opted observer" until the ownership of the Post Office changed hands, that is someone who was paid a nominal amount to do the reading.
It was confirmed "other options are being looked at, which may include a future automatic weather station", but the spokesperson said the options were still being investigated.
There is no date at this time as to when the weather readings will be resumed.
