There have now been a total of 49 coronavirus cases identified in the northern beaches since Wednesday, with the local government area in lockdown from 5pm on Saturday
"Effective immediately visitors are not permitted in the hospital due to the COVID-19 situation in the northern beaches area," a hospital spokeswoman said at 3pm on Saturday.
"Birthing mothers may have one support partner, one parent for pediatrics and there may be exceptions on compassionate and other grounds."
Meanwhile, hundreds of Avalon gym members have been told to get tested and isolate immediately following a positive case.
