AGL Energy will be offering new customers information on their major solar power initiative which will be the largest solar power station in Australia.
Pending project approval AGL will construct the solar plant 10kms to the west of Nyngan.
Once operational, the solar plant will generate enough clean, green energy annually to power 33,000 NSW homes.
Ag Expo chairperson Rob Avard said that while many people did research on the internet for products and information, the AGL Nyngan Ag Expo should not be missed, as this was the best place to meet face-to-face and speak with the people who have the inside knowledge of their products and services.
Event organiser Robyn Harris spoke about the ‘big boys’ toys’ on show.
“Farm machinery from Chesterfields, 3 Rivers, Western Farm Machinery, Iveco, Hysoon, and Geronimo will satisfy those with a lust for ‘big boy toys’,” she said.
“Red River Stockyards will be offering Ag Expo specials as well free delivery and installation, there will be displays of stock crates, flat pack silos and water tanks.
“We have had a great influx of exhibitors from the farming area, which is a fantastic response.”
This year there will be a range of activities for children as well as the addition of a car “Show and Shine” for those who take great pride in their vehicles. Prizes are to be offered for the best car in each division.
Local identity Royden Donohoe will entertain in the Aussie Country Catering Food and Wine marquee, where you can sample wines from local winemakers Canonbah Bridge, Two Furlong Wines, Cumulus Wines and Macquarie Grove Vineyard.
A fully-stocked bar will be tended by the Nyngan Rugby League Club for those who are not tipplers of wine.
The ‘foodies’ attending will satisfy the appetite of those venturing into the marquee, there will be delicious soups prepared by the students from Nyngan High, tasty Thai food, wood-fired pizza and a range of catering ideas from Aussie Country Catering, one of our Gold sponsors, with something for all tastes.
Ladies’ fashion, handbags, shoes and jewellery will have a strong showing and culminate with the ICPA fashion parade to raise funds and featuring designs from now Sydney-based local, Brigid McLaughlin.
The Wye pavilion will also be host to a number of schools.
With more than 220 exhibitors, there really is something of interest for everyone attending this year’s expo. Egerton Nursery, Dev’s Outback Art and Estate Gardening will have a range to delight the avid gardener from plants to garden decorations and to all your utensils.
Antique co-ordinator Jenny Deacon said that this year would also see the return of antique and collectable valuations by local valuer Gary Steele.
“Depending on the interest we will hold an auction of antiques or collectables from the public who are looking to down-size,” she said.
“The RMA shed is fully-lockable and Ag Expo will have security from 5pm on Friday August 2 for anyone wishing to display or sell their goods,” she added.
In this the 21st year of the Nyngan Ag Expo chairperson Rob Avard expressed his gratitude to past and present members of the committee and volunteers who have all contributed to the growth and success of the Expo.
“I would also like to take the opportunity to thank our sponsors - AGL Energy, AC Catering and Hire, CMA, Zee Tags Australia, Nyngan Toyota, 2WEB, Bogan Shire Council, Elders, Red River Stockyards, Coggan Wool, Parisi’s of Cobar, Weston Fence, Telstra, Landmark, Chesterfields, Carter, Lindsay and Weber, Western Magazine, The Land and Prime 7.
