Marra Creek CWA monthly meeting for August was well attended with just two apologies. We were pleased to have Martha and Rosemary with us after their hospitalisation.
A letter will be written to Peter McManus thanking him for his generous contribution towards constructing the ramp for our rooms. We extend our thanks to Nette McManus, David Thornton and Garry Hall for their assistance. Jasmine and William Thornton have left handprints for posterity.
Fortunately for our visitors to the Far Western Group Council meeting at The Marra it was a much milder day.
Guest speaker was local poetess Julieann Lamph, who read some of her marvellous poems including one written back in 1975 about the Far Western Group Council Meeting at The Marra and we feel this was written by Marra Creek CWA identity the late Joan Green.
Our international officers showed us a video on Botswana which was very interesting. On display were a number of artefacts, photos and currency.
In September we will have the pleasure of the Marra Creek School children with us for our official international day when we will have traditional Botswana dishes for lunch.
Land cookery was a honey sponge sandwich.
First was Rosemary Simpson, second Cathy MacAlpine, third Geraldine Butler.
Thanks to The Marra Monkeys Polocrosse Club for their donation to the CWA for our catering at the carnival in July.
