This was a lovely celebration of another great season.
This year saw us competing with a record number of six teams, in total 59 girls, travelling to Dubbo every Saturday to represent Nyngan.
A very big thank you to all the parents, grandparents and carers that took time out of their valuable weekends to give these girls the opportunity to play the game they enjoy so much.
A very big thank you goes out to Nyngan Innovation for their promptness in having all our prizes and trophies ready for our day.
Also a thank you to Tammy at Bogan Lollyshop and Gifts for doing up lovely bags of treats for the four girls, Tegan, Kasey, Melanie and Rachael, who umpired over the season.
Each week a parent or spectator allocates best and fairest points for each team. This year, each week as the points were tallied, the lead for this coveted trophy changed constantly.
In the end, some teams finished with a clear winner but most teams came down to the final week.
Best and Fairest winners were as follows: 10s Orange Ella Rose, 10s Black Ebony Martin, 12s Lucy Jenkins, Div 4 had a tie Chloe Vernon and Brittany Robb, Div 1 Kasey Douglas and B Grade Britt Burt.
Coaches then also selected two players that received either a most improved, most consistent or coach’s award.
Winners of these were: 10s Orange Lucy McLaughlin and Abbie Smith, 10s Black Jaynie Smith and Anastasia Walsh, 12s Lucy Dedman and Harley Yeomans, Div 4 Alex McLaughlin and Abbey Buchanan, Div 1 Maddy Horo and Lucy Buchanan and B Grade Emma Beetson and Zoe Sibbald.
We also took the opportunity to recognise the efforts of a certain individual who has been involved with Nyngan Netball for at least 12 years.
During this time he has been the president of the club for a few years and a coach to many players over at least 10 years, including the representative side that participated at gala days and state age championships for three years.
His input and commitment has certainly contributed to the strength of the club as we see it today.
For his dedication, Mark Beetson, was deservedly awarded a life membership of the Nyngan Netball Club.
Many thanks go to our sponsors for this season being Nyngan RSL, Glenn Smith Shearing, Wayne and Terry Roach and Glad Eldridge.
We really appreciate the support you have given to Nyngan netball.
Thank you to the coaches and managers that took on teams this year. The players all showed so much improvement over the season.
This is certainly quite a big commitment both on the day but also during the week for training.
I know all the players certainly appreciated the efforts. Lastly, a big thank you goes to the players.
The way you conducted yourselves on and off court, with great sportsmanship and ‘never say die’ attitude is a credit to you and you have all done Nyngan very proud.
We hope you thoroughly enjoyed your season and will be ready to go again next season.
