The boy from the bush has been working on his family's property for the past three years, but when he left school he decided he wanted to be a jackaroo.
Mr Druce headed to Newry Station, 70 kilometres east of the border of the Northern Territory.
For two years he learnt stock work, how to ride a horse and mustering.
“It gave us good work ethics,” Mr Druce said.
“Which was what I was looking for.”
“They put us through a First Aid course and we did horse riding, where we learnt how to be safe,” Mr Druce said.
Now back home on the family run property where they farm cotton, wheat sheep and cattle, Mr Druce hopes to focus more on the sheep industry in the future.
“I hope to build up numbers. It'll be something to work on,” he said.
Although it has been fairly dry in Warren, Mr Druce said they will get a harvest this year.
“The crops aren't too bad. They're lacking a bit of moisture but it should be a good harvest.”
Mr Druce and his father also work on a property just outside of Warren.
