Police said several hundred sheep were reported missing by a farmer near Coolabah in April.
Following inquiries by rural crime officers from Darling River Local Area Command, 35 ewes were located on a property north of Gilgandra. More sheep were found at Cobar.
A 34-year-old man from Cobar was arrested and charged with stock theft in relation to sheep worth $6000.
The man was granted conditional bail to appear before Nyngan Local Court on November 25,
Police said the arrest comes as a timely reminder about wandering stock.
“The Impounding Act 1993 clearly stipulates steps a property owner must take action if neighbouring stock wander onto their property,” a police media spokesman said.
“Police will continue to work closely with Local Land Services and local government during investigations.”
