Members were welcomed with drinks and finger food before hearing from several guests.
President Fiona Simson and senior policy analyst Justin Crosby gave an overview of association activities and some of the successful campaigns over the last 12 months and some of the challenges the association still faces.
Roads and Maritime Services officer Mark Leach gave a lengthy presentation on changes and enforcement priorities from his organisation.
Matt Brand Association CEO gave an insight into some of the strategic operations the agricultural lobby faces including the need to “streamline and strengthen” our representative efforts which are currently fragmented by many different outfits representing different sectors and sub-sectors of the industry.
Board member and farmer Peter Wilson from Trangie and formerly a practising solicitor at Nyngan also gave some insight into the association’s moves to streamline and strengthen its own structure and mentioned some of the many financial benefits from sponsors on partners of the association that more than pay for the reduced cost of member subscription.
Monique Wye was presented with a certificate of appreciation for service to the local branch and was returned as secretary at the AGM, with Anthony Gibson returned as chairman.
After a hearty meal the association guests answered questions and elaborated on the state government election campaign including the policy positions on drought, native vegetation changes and the LLS. At the conclusion of the meeting several previous members rejoined and all farmers are reminded that subscriptions with the new flat rate for 2015 are now due at the beginning of April.
