First up was the April Monthly Medal on Saturday, in which Hawley finished with 63 nett, the best round he has played in years. Hawley was just one over after six holes, followed by a birdie on the 14th gave no one else a chance.
Barry Howell was runner-up with 68 nett, Adam Lee was the pick of the rest with 71 nett.
Pin winners were Andy Lane and John Wynne. Ray Howell was the kind donor of the day’s trophies.
Hawley teamed up with Pat Walsh for Sunday’s fourball, finishing with 47 points due mostly to a good back nine of 25 points. Way back with 41 points were Don Lister and Peter Murphy plus Dave Buggy and Barry Howell.
Pin winners were Pat and Barry.
The ladies had enough players for a competition on Wednesday. The best with 66 nett was Sandra Beetson, three clear of Debbie Matheson who nudged out Melanie Murray on a countback for second place.
Debbie was the Pin winner and Colleen Anderson was the lucky loser.
Sandra then teamed up with Mim Pateman in Sunday’s fourball to make it two in a row after their narrow win over Colleen and Rhonda Holmes. Both teams shared the NTPs.
Greg Matheson hopes to run a clinic about 5pm Fridays for anyone who would like to learn a bit about golf.
