The coordinator of a thrift shop in Coolah anticipates the organisation will spend several years providing support for victims of the Sir Ivan Fire.

Bronwyn Drew said the small but dedicated team at Caring For Coolah (C4C) have worked tirelessly behind the scene since the February 12 fire tore through the Warrumbungle Shire.
“We have worked non-stop since the fire to support those affected and we envisage this will continue for many months, if not for at least the next couple of years,” she said.
“C4C has assisted many people affected by the fire with goods that have generously been donated by people from all over NSW.
“We even received a donation from Queensland.”
Earlier this month C4C held a monster garage sale through which they raised $5944.50 for the Warrumbungle Shire Mayoral Appeal. The latest donation takes their total funds raised to $8700.05.
“All money is being used to help those affected by the Sir Ivan Fire,” Bronwyn said.
That includes Paul (pictured) – a survivor from the village of Uarby east of Dunedoo.
Bronwyn said through dealing with victims of the fire she has heard there is little to no support being given to residents from the village.
“For example Paul who lost his home in the Uarbry fire was uninsured, his block at Uarbry has his home in a pile which contained asbestos, because he was not insured it remains there because he does not have the money for the clean-up,” she said.
“He lost all his fences and of course all his possessions.”
It is stories of such which continue to motivate Bronwyn and her team to work for the community.

Mudgee Lions Club contributes to BlazeAid donation drive
Willingness to support victims and programs in the wake of the Sir Ivan fire continue to flow in from around the Central West.
The Mudgee Lions Club donated fencing materials to the BlazeAid base at Dunedoo after conversing with coordinator, Laurie Dawson.
The Mudgee Lions Club raised money through donations at various functions and they were supported in their quest by the Beecroft-Cheltenham Lions Club in Sydney and the Cudgegong Cruisers car club.
Over $6000 was raised and club members Jenny Roberts, Kieren Norris, Les Leisfield and Tom Cooke delivered the fencing materials.
