NYNGAN TIGERS UNDER-12s
Mighty Tigers Under 12s put in a Dominant Display (Round 4)
This week saw the Mighty Tigers Under 12s take on The Wellington Cowboys in Round 4 of our Competition, and what a performance the boys put in. They absolutely blew Wellington off the park running away victors 40 points to 0.
The boys were prepared for a very tough encounter. The Coaches had warned their side that after studying Wellingtons form they were a skilful, fast team that should not be underestimated.
As expected Wellington came out firing and the opening exchanges were very physical. Neither side gave an inch in the opening minutes of the game. However, the Tigers defence stood tall right from the outset as we turned Wellington away from our line time and time again. The boys showed great line speed and hunger in defence all game.
Will Black came up with a couple of exceptional one on one try saving tackles at fullback after Wellington broke our line. Each week Will manages to save a certain try or two with these amazing tackles he comes up with.
When the Tigers got the ball our attack was crisp and organised. We worked our set plays and stuck to the game plan. We moved the ball wide to the edges . We were patient in attack and gradually we started to wear Wellington down and gain the upper hand.
By half-time when we went to the break the Tigers were leading 16 points to 0.
After the break the dominance continued. The Tigers started to use the ball and got away some good off loads to enable some second phase attack. As the game wore on the Tigers got their tails in the air and ran away easy victors 40 - 0.
This week saw Hunter Carter play his second game in the front row. He has been an absolute revelation in this new position normally playing at five eight. He tore into the Wellington line without fear and made ground time and time again.
He was one of our best forwards. Issac Drady, Dan Kennedy, and Ty Boney were the other forwards who put in big performances. Cooper Sheridan, Cooper Black, Jack Findlay and Darcy Yeomans were solid.
In the backs Cruz Cook again defended his heart out . Jack Melchior was busy and had five runs for the game and put in his best performance so far this year. Connor Burley also had five good runs and as always was solid in defence on his edge.
Keylan Nichols lead the boys in defence all day. Fred Gibson and Jeremy Holmes also shone. Mason Rope threatened in attack each time he got the ball and was rock solid in defence. Riley Wood found open space late in the game on two occasions.
Every player was outstanding in a very polished team performance. Try scorers this week were Will Black, Dan Kennedy and Keylan Nichols all getting 2 tries each and Ty Boney and Mason Rope picked up a try each. Issac Drady was awarded Players Player and Dan Kennedy was awarded Man of the Match by the Referee.
A quick mention this week that we were without our star second rower Tyson Deebank. Unfortunately Tyse broke his wrist this week and we will be without him for at least a month. We hope he gets a speedy recovery and is back on the field as soon as possible tearing into the opposition as he always does .
NYNGAN TIGERS UNDER-14s
Nyngan under-14s faced the Wellington Cowboys for their second home game of the year. Nyngan didn’t start well with the quick Wellington backs quickly spreading to the edges of Nyngan’s defensive line and scoring 2 tries through speed to have a handy 10-nil in ten minutes. As a result of these quickfire tries the Nyngan players adjusted their defensive line and began turning back the Wellington attack.
Nyngan were the next to score through a try to captain Roy Herbert who ran through a big hole to score under the posts.
This was followed by another good attacking set where Nyngan chased hard on their kick, the ball was spilt by Wellington and Tom Gadsby pounced on the loose ball to score left of the goal posts.
Nyngan’s frontrow forwards Heath Gough, Jedd Healy and Shannon Bourke carried the ball well through the middle, with hooker Digby Barrow directing them well.
Digby scored a good try in the second half with his trademark show and go, Will Richards had a good game and scored a try with good hole running. Cody Rope made good ground whenever he ran the ball. The score line had both teams in front at different times in the second half, Nyngan had their chances to win but Wellington ran out winners 40-28.
The 14s continue to improve, Harley Klante & Joey Kennedy played their best games so far with some good darts from dummy half, combined with some good one on one defence.
Jack Gadsby saved a certain try with good cover defence when he ran down Wellington’s fullback and held on until assistance got there. With continued hard work at training Nyngan will continue to improve their own football and the football they play as a team.

FINAL CITY-COUNTRY MATCH A BITTERSWEET MOMENT
By Isaac McIntyre
NSW Country fullback Michael Gordon has been busy in Mudgee this week, getting invovled in all that comes with the City-Country fixture.
The Roosters number one attended the best-dressed shopfront competition and on Sunday he is eager to see the series go out with a bang.
“I’m super excited to be playing and to be representing Country,” he said, Sunday marking his third Country cap.
“It really hasn’t hit yet, that it’s the last one,” he admitted.
“It’ll be on the game day that it feels like that, I think. It’s a real bittersweet feeling but to have a spot in the final one is special for me.
“I don’t know if just taking trials and games to the bush is the answer, City-Country still has a place in it all and I don’t think its time is up.”
NRL: TAYLOR RETURNS TO THE ROOSTERS
Jason Taylor will get the chance to plot the downfall of his former NRL club Wests Tigers next month after being named assistant coach of the Sydney Roosters.
Taylor's return to the Tricolours was confirmed on Monday with immediate effect and sets up a mouth-watering round 14 clash between the Roosters and Ivan Cleary's Tigers at Campbelltown on June 11.
His appointment comes after Taylor was sacked by the Tigers in March and he is expected to be in the Roosters' coaches box for Sunday's match against Parramatta at Allianz Stadium.
The announcement by the Roosters also means Taylor is set to reunite with Tigers fullback James Tedesco who signed a four-year deal at the foundation club from next season.
