Police have reported three incidents of teenagers being approached by a stranger in a car since 5pm on Friday afternoon. 

Two female children were approached on Monday.

Police are appealing to parents and guardians to educate their children in stranger danger and not to accept lifts from strangers. 

“Be wary of approaches. If someone does approach you alert someone around or run off,” Inspector Dan Skelly of Orana LAC advises children. 

“We’re appealing to parents and guardians to make themselves familiar with the Narromine incidents and make the necessary precautions to mitigate risk, that could mean giving a lift to school instead of walking.”

Two of three incidents occurred on Monday.

At 8.45am to 8.50am a 15 year old female was walking to school and turned up a lane way. A car stopped alongside her and asked her to get into to the car. She has run off and the car has sped away. 

The next incident took place on Dappo Road yesterday at 3pm. A male driver approached a 15 year old female and asked her if she wanted some lollies. She refused the driver threw the lollies on the ground and sped away.

This is in addition to the incident on Friday, where a male driver in a grey vehicle approached a 15 year old boy on the Parkes Road and offered him a lift. The boy declined and ran home where he alerted his mother and the appropriate authorities.

Police have spoken to a male in relation to the Dappo Road incident and investigations are ongoing. 

“It’s hard to say if it is the same suspect, all three occasions have allegedly been a grey car but there are differing descriptions,” Inspector Skelly said. 

The Inspector asked everyone to take the matters seriously. 

Detectives from Dubbo have joined the investigation.
