As Nyngan sweltered through scorching temperatures, emergency services were called out to two house fires on Monday, January 22.

The first blaze broke out about 2pm on Cobar Street.
A full contingent of services including NSW Ambulance, NSW Police, Essential Energy, and Fire and Rescue NSW were called to the property.
Detectives are yet to investigate, but it is believed the fire may have started in the vicinity of the roof.
Occupants of the home were not in the property at the time of the fire.
The property suffered smoke, water and fire damage to the first three rooms, however the structures on either side of the home were saved.
Emergency services were also called to a house fire on Oxley Street about 6pm.
Again a number of services were called in including ambulance, police, fire fighters and Essential Energy.
All occupants were safe, as they were out of the house at the time of the blaze.
Detectives are yet to investigate, however it is believed a fault to a gas barbecue could have caused the fire.
A Fire and Rescue NSW spokesperson said the house was extensively damaged from fire and smoke.
However there was no damage to the structures on either side of the property.
The spokesperson said all services worked together well, responding immediately and bringing the blazes under control in spite of the extreme heat conditions.
The spokesperson expressed their thanks to Neill Earthmoving, which assisted in fighting the second fire through the use of their water tanker.
The spokesperson urged locals to stay hydrated, keep in the shade and be aware in the extreme heat conditions.

According to the bureau of meteorology the temperature soared to a top of 41.5 degrees on Monday.
The maximum temperature has remained over 40 since Friday.
The hot conditions are expected to continue with temperatures to stay in the high 30s throughout the week.
The spokesperson urged people to be aware of where barbecues were placed, remain looking when cooking and to check properties for damage after storms.
