First up with 60.75 nett  was Bill Hare and Chicky Parry a very solid combination they had a par round. Another second placing for Croc Read and the chef Scot Bartley with 62.75 nett.

They were one over and lost a lot of momentum when they came a cropper on the 14^th. Also on 62.75 was John Wynne and Mick Beetson lots of good things on their card, they were one under and the last hole was a bit of a fizzer for them with a bogey.

New President Sam Keating and Les Dorrington had 63.25 nett, they hacked around on most of the short holes and still were big contenders until the bitter end. Lots of N.T.Ps and long drives, the lucky winners were Viv Pateman, Ckicky x 2, Tim Tulenew x 2, Pat Walsh, Steve Peterson, Steve Iverach (Dubbo).

Saturday was the Presidents Cup and the left handers with an average of 71 gross. Got the edge over the orthodox 71.5 cross. Individual honours went to Pat with 69 nett on a countback over Janine Tulenew and Croc Read, Tulla won a handful of agates for his N.T.P on the 17th.

The mid-week comp went to Tex with 37 points, Jenny Holmes 35 points and Jodie Stewart N.T.P were ball winners. An amazing shot by Bugman on the 16th he holed his shot from 80 metres for a nice birdseye.

Badge draw is $1300. Sneaking Deacon took the putt for $420. It turned into an out swinger and was well fielded by 3rd slip.

Golf this Saturday is the June monthly medal and Sunday is a Stableford. Quite a few new faces after the AGM.  Sam Keating is President, Deb Matheson is the Vice, Tara McDermott is Treasurer, Mark Cashion, Viv Pateman, Tristan DalForno, Michael Gibson, Croc Read, Greg Matheson make up the rest of the board.

Highlight of the night was Jenny Holmes being awarded life membership for her long service to the club.  A fitting reward anti-climax was a visit by the drug squad, all clear was the result.

Results of Clay Target Shooting at Hermidale Gun Club for May

A good roll up of shooters made for a good days shooting. Congratulations to all the winners. June shoot will be June 23. Visitors and new shooters always welcome.

Congratulations to the students that represented the school at Nyngbar Cross Country at Hermidale last Thursday. They all ran, giving it their best. They should be effort of their efforts. Nyngan public now have seven students who have qualified to represent Nyngbar at the Regional Cross Country at Geurie on June 13.  We wish Claire Piper, Deontai Edwards, Mia Cummings, Caitlin Bunting, Chloe McCarthy, Shania Dutschke and Ava Cummings well today.

On Tuesday, June 5 the under 16s team travelled to Gulgong to play the semi-final of the Tom Kemp competition. Mr Lennon was very sceptical of his team’s chances of winning going into the match after just coming off mid-term break. The first few minutes of the game looked to be tight with both teams completing their first set and not gaining much ground. That was until Cooper Ryan broke the line and went 60 metres to put the ball over for a try. From there on, Gulgong struggled to match the aggression displayed by the Nyngan side. Our Bruise Brothers (Sonny Knight and Xander Wood) were picking their attack apart. With Gulgong not making any metres in attack it was our play maker’s turn to capitalise. Harry Blake, with his ability to read his oppositions defence lead the team around the park well from hooker. Both Colin Piper and Cale Dunn were busting the line and putting players through holes making Gulgong look completely outclassed. The final score ended up 56-4. With the win under their belt and the condition met set by Mr Gibson, the team all enjoyed going through Dubbo for a feed on their way. 

Buckley Shield Report

Under 14s Buckley Shield team travelled to Dubbo to take on the might of Dubbo South. Nyngan High started the game beautifully, four first half tries to a barnstorming and unstoppable Rory Quarmby gave the boys a 22-10 lead at the halftime break. The start of the second half didn’t quite go to plan, with some questionable officiating and too many defensive lapses allowing South to take the game by the scruff of the neck. With four unanswered tries down our right edge, this allowed them to take an unfathomable 32-22 lead. Directions were sent out to complete their sets and defend like their lives depended on it. Unfortunately, an error from the kick off immediately after scoring gifted Dubbo South the ball in prime real estate. Another error from a kick gifted Dubbo South a repeat set and they took full advantage to take a 36-34 lead with only 90 seconds remaining. With time running out, Nyngan had one last crack, but it wasn’t to be. A tough loss to swallow, but the boys should be proud of their efforts nevertheless.
