We have competitors coming from far and wide with such titles as state champions and National kelpie trial winners .

Famous local singer and dancer Royden Donohoe stole the show in Saturdays Monthly Medal with 40 points. 

He started with a washout then his game steadily improved topping it off with 21 points on the back nine to nudge out the consistent Darcy Smith who had 39 points not a blemish on his card unlike Andy Lane 39 points as well, he was cruising along until he stuck one over the fence on the 11^th and didn’t fare too well along the river. 

Rex Vane was a contender with 38 points a few one point holes was his down fall, Pin winners were Anthony R.C, John Wynne and Andy the Day was sponsored by Ray Howell and a top field of 20 turned up. 

After a disastrous day on Saturday Pat was lucky enough to jag Dorro for a partner in Sunday’s four Ball, a couple behind at the drinks break they zoomed around the back nine two under scoring 27 points for a grand total of 40 points.   

The early leaders Anthony R.C. and Darcy tallied 43 points hitting the wrong ball on the tenth was a big turning. No pin winners on Sunday. 

Jenny Holmes was back to her best with 36 points in the mid-week game Dolly Ryan had 34pts and Janine Tulenew was Pin winner. 

Rumour has it that Mandy Martin has won the Coonamble Open, she is still going head to head with Winx in consecutive wins, no info yet about the Rose Bowl.

The Ladies Veteran winner last week Deb Matheson (40 points) had a shot at the $790 jackputt, it was way wide.  Badge draw is for $1800 this week. Happy 85^th birthday to our elderly member Frank Walsh a legend in the wool industry for his pressing abilities.

Minor Singles round winner Colin Williamson defeated Michael McGlynn.  Betty Carney defeated Margaret Morley.

Consistency round winner Dianne Wynne defeated Marie Bexon. Greg Wright defeated Tim Walsh.

Hcp Pairs round winners Andrew Reynolds and Baden Powell defeated Paul Walsh and Rex Vane. Subscriptions for membership at the club are now overdue and payable by June 30.

Please pay your membership as soon as possible. Membership cards are now at the club to be picked up. The women’s AGM which will now be held today Wednesday, July 18 at 5pm.

(The meeting on the 11^th was rescheduled for Wednesday, July 18).  All ladies please attend.

The rider hit the ground fifty metres past the winning post but not before apprentice jockey Akira Kijaya had scored a remarkable win on It’s Business Time in the opening race on Saturday at the Cowra TAB meeting.

Soon after the start of the Cowra Rotary Club Benchmark 50 Handicap ( 1100 metres ) the feet of Kajiya slipped from the irons and thereafter it was a hair-raising ride for the jockey, formerly from Japan.

Sitting bolt upright and bobbing up and down in the saddle, Kajiya managed to steer It’s Business Time ($2.50 favourite) around the hometown and down the outside fence to win by a half neck from Kingston (Ken Dunbar, $6.50) and Benno’s Boy (Kath Bell-Pitomac, $5).

Tumbling off It’s Business Time after crossing the line, Kajiya escaped serious injury but was advised to relinquish his later rides at the meeting. 

Now aged 36, Akira Kajiya gave away race riding for many years before recently resuming an apprenticeship with Canberra trainer Matthew Dale. Replays of the incredible win have gone worldwide on social media.

It’s Business Time is trained at Yass by Allan McRae who was reared on a property at Tottenham in central New South Wales. 

Bill Molloy, a former local trainer, remembers an incident when Campaign trained at Orange by Dick Van Den Bos,after winning a race at Cowra jumped the outside fence.

Billy Owen, a former leading jockey on the Picnic circuit, has been achieving plenty of success in the professional ranks since recently taking up an apprenticeship with Canberra trainer Nick Olive.

Witt classy rides, Owen landed a winning double, Chasing Waterfalls and Fraternater at Cowra on Saturday with both being trained at Canberra by Neil Osborne.

From a wide barrier Chasing Waterfalls ( $2.60 favourite ) obtained a handy position and was a one length winner over Seishin ( Jamie Gibbons, $9.50 ) and Louisiana Belle ( Simon Miller, $4 ) in the Jamieson’s Joinery Maiden Plate,1200 metres.
