Former Nyngan resident Tom Carter recently celebrated his 70th birthday in great style with a luncheon gathering of many family and friends in Dubbo.

Tom is the eldest son of Tom and Nerida Carter from Nyngan (both dec). Tom went to primary school in Nyngan, then onto Scots in Bathurst.
After leaving school Tom went jackarooing in western Queensland before joining the RAAF.
Toms daughter Mia and his three grandchildren, Jarrah, Marli and Allira came from Lennox Head, Jarrah the eldest returned from working in Japan in time to attend. Toms son Laird came from Newcastle.

His Brother Stuart Carter came from Mackay in Queensland and his sister Virginia lives in Dubbo.
Barrie Bell a friend Tom met when he first joined the air force 45 years ago, flew from Hobart for the special occasion.
Other family members travelled from Walgett, Nyngan, Cowra and Sydney.
A Thai exchange student Tom and his family hosted 28 years ago from Songwuth Ngamjarulut also returned to Dubbo and enjoyed seeing friends he had made while at school. Mr Songwuth was especially thrilled to catch up with his Australian ‘mum’ Inez Carter.
Tom’s wife Trish Carter saw to all the arrangements and the luncheon was a happy occasion enjoyed by all. A photo wall had been erected and many old photos of grandparents, parents, school pictures, family dogs, horses, cars, motorbikes and assorted vehicles Tom has renovated over the years.
One highlight was a birthday cake depicting Tom working underneath a truck and his blue dog Blooby trying to ‘help’ from the other side.
Atendees said it was a wonderful day with many good memories.
