The Bogan Shire Council will start carting water to Girilambone and Coolabah residents this week as village supplies begin to dry.

Bogan Shire General Manager Derek Francis said the two villages have an insufficient water supply available, and will start level three water restrictions on February 4 to fulfil a consumption target of 220 litres per person per day.
“The council estimates that Coolabah and Girilambone only have between two and four weeks water supply left,” Mr Francis said.

“Once the local supply runs out the council will start carting water out to Coolabah and Girilambone,” Mr Francis said.
“In the meantime the council requests all residents to conserve the existing supply as much as possible.”
Mr Francis said Hermidale maintains a sufficient supply due to recent localised rainfall.
Director of Engineering Services for the Bogan Shire Council Graeme Bourke said the council plan to cart 30,000 litres of water to each village every second day to provide them with their current usage.
He said that while the council will be responsible for the cost of carting water, they have written to the minister to seek government funding.
The water will be pumped into the village overhead tanks and houses will have a normal supply as long as they do not increase their usage.
Level three restrictions:
RESIDENTIAL:
- Watering of lawns/gardens: Hand held hoses, non-fixed sprinklers not permitted. Microsprays, drip systems, soaker hoses only between 6am-9am and 6pm and 9pm.
- Car or boat washing: by bucket only between 9am and 12pm
- Topping up of pools: Permitted only between 7am to 9am and 6pm to 8pm.
- Washing down walls/paved surfaces: Not permitted.
NON RESIDENTIAL:
- Watering of lawns/gardens: Hand held hoses, non-fixed sprinklers not permitted. Microsprays, drip systems, soaker hoses only between 6am-9am and 6pm and 9pm.
- Construction - wash down, paint prep, curing: Permitted.
- Cleaning - exterior: Permitted with trigger hoses anytime.
