This was one that definitely got away from the boys. We squandered a 22-10 lead with twenty minutes to go.
The final thirty minutes of the game saw the Tigers starved of possession, receiving a couple of rough calls, but our discipline has got to be a lot better than it was. Jacob and Loma both spent time in the bin for back chat and being short definitely hurt us.
The Tigers did nothing but tackle for the final third of the game and the weight of possession told in the end.
We lost captain-coach Justin Carney after 15 minutes with a hamstring injury and really missed his leadership on the field. Although Justin was disappointed with the loss, he was pleased with the effort the boy put in with their defence. The amount of ball the Jets had, they should have put 40 on us.
Interchange player Harrison McAvernie was our best for mine, he bought plenty of energy to the team when he went on. Jackson Hedges was also strong, showing calmness with the footy and steered the boys around well. He goes a bit unnoticed Hedgo and just goes about his business. Jai Merrit was also good in patches.
The scores were locked at 22-all with 10 seconds to go when Narromine received a penalty right in front, 15 metres out. They made no mistake with the simple kick to come away with an upset victory.
The reggies returned to the winners circle with an impressive 46-16 victory over the Jets. The Tigers made it hard on themselves in the first half with poor ball control and lack of patience costing us dearly on a number of occasions.
The second half saw the boys settle down and proved strong running out convincing winners.
Big Simon Bartley was strong in the middle, he's work rate is increasing each week. He made good ground coming out of our own end and also crashed over for a couple of tries. Little hooker Nate Matheson was also impressive and I thought he was our best just in front of Matt Sheather and big fullback Liam Durrington who had a blunder.
The u/18s recorded an impressive victory running out convincing 48-12 winners.
The Bourke boys were impressive with big Sam Canty proving near unstoppable, Sonny Knight and Benny Skinner were also good, as was Cale Dunn who crossed for three tries.
The girls got the day off to the best possible start thumping the Jets 40-6.
Emma Teale was the star she ran at will and the girls had no answer for her. Ella Meldrum was another to shine, this girl gets better each week. She scored a good try and was very busy in defence. The old girl Kayla was also very good.
Three home games in a row when we take on CYMS on Sunday. This will be a cracker of a day of footy with a huge crowd sure to be on hand.
The following week we have our old boys reunion when we take on Macquarie on the Saturday with the girls getting the day underway at 10am.
The reunion dinner will start at 6.30pm in the RSL auditorium. Tickets for the night are $35 a head and available at the RSL.
