It was resolved at the June council meeting that councillors would make an individual choice of donating their 2019/20 remuneration increase to either the Nyngan Hospital Auxiliary or Can Assist.
The Bogan Shire councillors, mayor and deputy mayor could have an increase their pay packets by 2.5 per cent, but instead chose to donate the $2500 between the two local charities.
Bogan Shire mayor Ray Donald said the donation is being made for two reasons.
"One we feel that we're being remunerated fairly adequately on the levels that were there previously, we don't need an increase," he said.
"The other is to identify with other rate payers and people that are doing it pretty tough, that we know that's the case and we don't want to be seen to be taking an increase when they're battling it so hard because of the drought."
