Organised by Di Gill of the Rural Adversity Mental Health Program (RAMHP), the idea was to get the kids off their farms for the day and have some fun.

James Cleaver from the DPI Rural Resilience Program and Matt March from NSW Health - Drought Support Team left Dubbo early on Wednesday morning on a double-decker bus to collect children from Yeoval.

"We picked up 20 kids on a double decker bus," James said when the bus stopped over for a short break at Bushman's Dam on Wednesday morning.

"They were pretty excited about that, the bus was a bit of a surprise for them.

"We are taking them across to Tullamore for the day, there we'll do a bunch of activities with kids from the Tullamore area before watching a movie in the afternoon."

James said a number of agencies were on board including the NSW Peer Support Drought Team in the NSW Resilience Program who are funding the event through the Drought Resilience Fund.

"The Drought Resilience Fund is a NSW Government package," James said.

"The funding is there for communities to be able to host events for free and be able to get people away, off farm for the day to get refreshed, take a moment and get away from the difficulties and the conditions of the drought."

The Tullamore Central School P and C cooked a barbecue for the hungry students with meat funded through the Drought Resilience Fund.

A sweet treat in the way of biscuits was donated by the House With No Steps (Aussie Biscuit Company) in Forbes.

Craft activities planned for the children included Koko Dammas, Dream Catchers, Marbling on glass, Drumming, Crafts from Bunnings Forbes, Bee Homes (LLS), Friendship pins, and stress balls.

There was also a colouring in corner and a leggo corner for children who needed a little quiet time.
