Library Lovers' Day is an opportunity for library and information professionals to show off their libraries and for people across Australia to show their love for libraries.
The occasion was also marked with the launch of two new apps which will help people enjoy the library from the comfort of their own homes.
Nyngan library manager Maria Kinsey said members will be able to download and borrow the Nyngan collection of eBooks and eAudiobooks using an app called BorrowBox on their smartphone, tablet or home computer.
She also announced the north-western library has funded the app Kanopy, which will allow library members to stream thousands of films for free.

Kanopy offers a range of films, documentaries and educational movies including Lion, Strictly Ballroom and Roman Holiday, all without ads.
"Library members can stream 10 films per month to watch on their devices," Ms Kinsey said.
"All people need is their library card number and a pin, then you can set yourself up on your own computer or phone."
Ms Kinsey said people can visit the library and staff will be able to help people get started using the app.
The app is available free of charge from the App Store and GooglePlay.
