Stoinis hurt his shoulder in Western Australia's Sheffield Shield loss to South Australia earlier this week, a game in which he delivered 26 overs.

He will now be rested from bowling until the injury settles.

Stoinis is the third player to pull out of the four-day match starting on Saturday at the MCG after Will Pucovski and James Pattinson, and will be replaced by Queenslander Jack Wildermuth.

Pucovski is missing through concussion and Pattinson through back soreness, but it is Stoinis who will feel the pain of not playing the most.

Seemingly on the outer with selectors, he was overlooked for Australia's white-ball tours of India and South Africa despite a dominant Big Bash campaign for finalists Melbourne Stars.

The BBL player of the tournament, Stoinis topped the charts with a record-breaking 705 runs at an average of 54.23 and strike rate of 136.32 batting at the top of the order.

He has not played for Australia since he fought a side strain through the majority of a poor World Cup campaign last year, in which he failed to fire with bat or ball.

The match against the young England side is a red-ball match but Stoinis would have been keen to impress.

He narrowly missed out on a Test debut last January but has seemingly dropped out of the red-ball picture with coach Justin Langer this summer lamenting Australia's lack of allrounders.

The latest setback for Stoinis comes after a foot niggle stopped him from bowling for the majority of the BBL, only sending down overs in the finals.
