Directed by Gracie Otto, Seriously Red is musical comedy with a cast including Byrne, her Emmy-winning partner Bobby Cannavale, Daniel Webber and Krew Boylan.
The star-studded support cast including actress /comedian Celeste Barber, Thomas Campbell, Jean Kittson, Wayne Blair, Todd Lassance, Sarah Su, Sophia Forrest, Rarriwuy Hick, and cameos by the legendary Tony Barry, Nell Campbell (The Rocky Horror Picture Show), Dustin Clare, Bangarra dancer Waanega Blanco, and icon Jack Thompson.
Filming locations include Brunswick Heads and Mullumbimby.
The film tells the story of Red, a vivacious redhaired woman who trades her 9 to 5 career in real estate for a life in the spotlight as a Dolly Parton impersonator.
Music is the backbone of the film that includes Dolly Parton's iconic discography in addition to a soundtrack of legendary musical artists and re-recordings.
Produced by Jessica Carrera and Robyn Kershaw, Seriously Red is the first feature from Rose Byrne's all female team at Dollhouse Pictures.
Roadshow Films has the Australian and New Zealand distribution rights for the new musical dramedy.
The Northern Rivers has become a hotspot for film productions this year. Nine Perfect Strangers, starring Nicole Kidman, and the new Stan TV series Eden, made by the team behind SeaChange, are among the productions that have filmed here in 2020.
