Security camera footage captured the large snake sizing up the cat before latching on, as the terrified owner tries to intervene.
The cat bolts inside the house with the snake in tow as loud screams break out from the woman's daughter.
Stu from Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers was called out to collect the python from the home in Buderim on April 4 and shared the footage on Facebook.
"This is one of the most insane videos you'll ever see," he said.
"The cat's taken off inside and brought the snake with it.
"Thankfully they were able to get the snake off the cat and the cat took off for a bit of time out, and the snake curled up behind their barbecue."
He showed himself releasing the snake back into the wild with a parting message, "no more grabbing pets please".
