Member for Barwon Kevin Humphries announced the funding Thursday afternoon saying it will demonstrates the government’s commitment to providing quality water.
“Everyone in NSW deserves access to reliable and high-quality water and that’s why I am delighted to announce this new funding to upgrade the Nyngan water supply system,” Mr Humphries said.

“This funding from the Government’s $1 billion Safe and Secure Water Program shows we are getting on with the job of delivering critical local water infrastructure in the Bogan Shire.
“Our funding for the Nyngan project supports most of the total expected cost of $1.26 million upgrade to the plant, which will continue to supply water to the community that meets Australian drinking water guidelines,” he said.
Bogan Shire Mayor Ray Donald has welcomed the NSW Government’s contribution to the project.
“Council thanks the NSW State Government for the major contribution to funding some necessary upgrades to infrastructure at our water treatment plant,” Cr Donald said.
“This will ensure that the current high quality of drinking water for Bogan Shire residents will be maintained,” he said.

Minister for Regional Water Niall Blair said NSW communities depend on access to clean, reliable and affordable water, and wastewater infrastructure that meets environmental and health standards.
“With over 1.9 million people living in more than 500 regional NSW communities, it is vital we continue to invest in priority local infrastructure, and this is what our $1 billion Safe & Secure Water Program is all about.
“The Program prioritises key water infrastructure projects – from local drought backup systems through to new or upgraded dams to secure water supplies for our regional communities.”
“Whether it’s a new water treatment plant or replacing outdated wastewater treatment plants our Safe & Secure Water Program will make a real difference to local communities throughout NSW,” he said.

The Safe and Secure Water Program is a $1 billion regional infrastructure co-funding program established in 2017 under the NSW Government’s Restart NSW Fund.
The program co-funds eligible water and sewerage projects that deliver economic growth in regional NSW through improvements to public health, water security, environmental outcomes and/or social benefits.
