The Running Wild six hour fun run around Knapsack reserve in Glenbrook was for Mr Fisk a “really good” challenge both physically and mentally. 

The event hosted more than 400 participants and was open to solo runners, pairs relays and team relays with the choice to run for up to three or six hours. It was even open for those just wanting to run a lap or two with their mates or partners. 

Mr Fisk took part as a solo runner completing the circuit seven times making a distance of 35-kilometres in up to five hours.

The race was stopped at five hours due to the excessive heat. 

“Yeah the heat was a killer, lucky they had three stations set up on the course where volunteers were putting cold water over you,” Mr Fisk said. 

The five-kilometre course around Knapsack reserve, which has a mixture of single track, fire trail, descents, climbs and two lookouts was a highlight for Mr Fisk. 

“Yeah the knapsack six hour solo run was a really good event,” he said.

“It really tested me both physically and mentally.” 

“I took part in it because I thought six hours of running would be a great challenge, and especially through the mountains,” he said. 

As a keen runner, Mr Fisk he’s eager to complete another marathon, but hopes to complete a circuit on a road track. 

“I was running 10 kilometres a day prior to the event and I didn’t have near enough mountain preparation being out at Nyngan, which was the only down fall,” he said. 

“I just felt like the trail run really took it out of my joints and I’d be able to run a good time in a marathon on a flat road track.” 

It’s not Mr Fisk’s first marathon, last year he travelled to Melbourne to complete a 20 kilometre run to help raise money for Fight MND (Motor Neurone Disease).  

He was one of 20 charity champion runners in the event and raised over $3700 for the charity to help find a cure for MND.
